Our innovative technology

Our adhesive is more than just an alternative, it’s an upgrade.

01

NILO adhesive redefines what’s possible

NILO's adhesive is engineered to deliver the structural performance required by modern composite wood products, while also addressing regulatory and market demands for reduced formaldehyde emissions and a lower carbon footprint

02

By Transforming Plastic Waste

NILO takes polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) – two of the world’s most abundant plastic waste streams - and upcycles them into a high-performance adhesive for composite wood products used in furniture and construction.

03

We offer a commercially viable, sustainable solution

NILO’s binder offers a commercially viable alternative to help phase out urea formaldehyde adhesives. Better yet, it has a lower carbon footprint and is made from plastic waste that would otherwise pollute our land, water and air.

How it works

01

We use plastic waste

NILO takes plastic waste types that are not usually recycled (polyethylene and polypropylene) and would otherwise end up in landfill or our oceans.

02

To make an industrial binder

Using plastic waste as raw material, NILO uses a patented process to produce an industrial adhesive that is clean, safe and is cost competitive.

03

That is used in the production of engineered wood products

NILO’s binder is combined with materials like woodchip, date palm and bamboo to produce engineered wood products in a heated press. It can also be used to make other engineered wood products including medium density fibreboard, oriented strand board and plywood.

04

Which can then be recycled for use in new wood products

NILO’s particle board can be reground as feedstock for new board production.
